Grain Effect Plastic Masterbatch (Injection)

Grain Effect Plastic Masterbatch Operation Procedure (For Injection Machine)

1. Working temperature:

Please activate your co oling system (water cooling syste m) when yo u start to use grain effect Plastic Masterbatch. If  your injection machine has 5 temperature section s, please set the working temperature in section 3, 4 and 5 to be the same. If  you get no grain eff ect at all that maybe the Plastic Masterbatch is melted completely and there is only one mixed color shown, please try to decrease your working temperature.

2. Pressure (Backpressure): At the beginning, please set backpressure to be zero. If the Plastic Masterbatch is still not melted, please increase your working temperature a little until melted (each time increase 3-5℃ for trial). After that if the situation remains at this point please increase backpressure. Moreover high backpressur e causes grain effect result not obvious due to over melted, decline backpressure is required.

3. Injection Speed: When you try to adjust injection speed, please set the speed in section 1 lower than section 2, to make section 2 push section 1. If you can not get any grain effect near injection gate in the product, please reduce injection speed.

4. The injection point size: Entry point size of bigger than 1.3mm will be helpful to get better grain effect. If the injection point is small then set the injection section 2 to higher speed. If the injection size is big, then set injection speed of section 2 to lower speed.

5. Reference Working temperature:Following figures are reference only from NPC 3.5 OZ injection machine and mold; figures may be varied depending on Injection machines.

Soft plastic (PP)

Rigid plastic (ABS)

Section 3

Low temperature (175℃)

Low temperature(180℃)

75 Kgf/c㎡

Section 2

Middle or low temperature(225℃)

Middle or low temperature(260℃)

Section 1

High temperature (175℃)

High temperature (180℃)

62 Kgf/c㎡

Starts from: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

Remark:

(1) For soft plastic, axis speed adjustment is set to low speed and rigid plastic is set to middle or high speed.

(2) After you manage t o get grain effect please be informed that at this stage lower work ing temperature to get wider pattern, higher working temperature to get thinner pattern.

(3) Comparing Working temperature of injection machine with extrusion machine; injection machine setting is lower than extrusion machine simple because material will stay in the barrel longer.

  • Actual operation temperature may be varied on the use of materials, machines and moldings.
